About Us

• Founded in December 2004, 39 Degrees North, LLC is an Indiana-based company specializing in software development, principally the design and implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In particular, we provide system architecture and geodatabase design, development of custom desktop and Internet mapping applications, and data creation and migration services. We also provide consulting, expert analysis, and other highly specialized services based on our customers' unique requirements.
  
  The three founders of 39°N, Alex, Chris and Prem, originally met at the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS), a research institute of Indiana University, where they worked together on numerous high-profile, award-winning GIS projects.
  
  Alex left the IGS in 2001 to pursue a programming career at another company, but continued to support the IGS part-time. Prem joined the IGS as a database administrator shortly thereafter, and as soon as he and Chris got acquainted, 39°N was in the making. Indiana University and the IGS made our startup possible by allowing us flexibility in scheduling the work we do for them, and we continue to maintain a strong presence at the IGS.
  
  Our name comes from the fact that the 39th parallel is the closest line of latitude to our headquarters in Bloomington, Indiana's Certified Technology Park (CTP). The CTP is located in the Indiana University Research Park and 39°N is honored to be a part of this emerging research and development site. We also have a satellite office in Toronto, Canada.
  
  Focused primarily on the governmental sector, 39°N is also working hard to develop alliances with industry partners and academics. We have already established partnerships with Indiana University, Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), and Next Wave Systems, as well as Booz Allen Hamilton, with whom we are developing GIS software to assist government officials with emergency preparedness.
  
  Together, our programmers possess over 120 years' experience in designing, developing, and deploying GIS, and as certified ESRI Business Partners, we will always provide you with state-of-the-art solutions, unsurpassed customer service, and an uncompromising work ethic.
